I'm Making a Peanuts/ Snoopy/Charlie Brown Christmas Quilt, Better Late than Never!

Image
I've had this Peanuts Christmas fabric in my stash for I don't know how long.  I bought it when we were living in the coziest, cutest log cabin, and we've been in our current home for almost seven years, (and yes, I miss that log cabin) and it was in my possession for a few years before that, so let's say it's been sitting patiently waiting for me to do something with it for a long time.  You saw that I had recently finished four Merry Grinchmas quilts for my four little grandsons, and all were backed with fleece.  Since I do my own free-motion quilting on a domestic machine, and that was the first time I've ever backed a quilt with fleece, if you've done it before, you know how hard it is on the arms and shoulders.  I was like, NEVER AGAIN!, until my middle child, my kind, considerate, never asks for anything son mentioned that he would love a fleece backed quilt, as he thought his two little guys' quilts were so cozy and comfy.  Now how could I deny hi

Starting a YouTube channel, and learning how to edit...

Image
The link to my YT video is down below!  Please go visit, like, subscribe, and hit the notificaton bell! I'd apreciate it more than words can say! I've been contemplating starting a YouTube channel as a compliment to my blog.  How hard can it be, right?  Oh my word!  I'm pretty experienced using Adobe Photoshop Elements, but learning how to edit a video is a whole other story!  I did a good amount of research on vlogging, editing, and so on, before even attempting this, and decided to go with Adobe Premiere Elements, to begin with, for video editing.  It made sense to me since I have years of experience with Adobe products, so am somewhat familiar with their format.  Let's just say I spent hours, days, blood, sweat and tears to create this first video!  I don' have a vlogging camera, and everything I've read says start out with what you have, and what I have is an iphone 7+.  I did splurge on a phone tripod, and small microphone, which set me back about $40, and

Re-creating expensive dies with my Cricut Joy!

Happy New Year's Eve friends!  I made more Christmas cards than ever this year thanks to my new Cricut Joy, clearly one of the best things I've ever indulged myself with.  I spoke in a previous blog post (click here) about how much I liked it, as it's small, takes up less space, I don't have to move things out of the way like I have to do when using my Cricut Explore, and it's just so dang amazing!   I love seeing the creations my fellow crafters come up with, especially the famous YT crafters, and those on Design Teams, but many of the projects they share require one to buy pretty expensive supplies such as stamp sets, metal dies, specialty inks, doo dads and such.  I'm always pushed to the edge thinking I need to purchase these items if I want my cards and projects to look as good as theirs.  Don't get me wrong, I want to support the crafting industry, but there is only so much one can purchase, and store.  I love The Frugal Crafter Lindsay Weirich 's

Merry Christmas, Mom!

My 87 year young mom loved the photo plaque of her brothers, and her desk calendar documenting her life with her family throughout the years. Makes me happy to see her happy. I know how hard the Christmas holidays are for her. My dad and both her parents had December birthdays, her mom’s actually being on Christmas Eve, and her dad passed away on New Year’s Eve.  #shutterflychristmas

Merry Grinchmas Quilts!

Image
Gavin's Merry Grinchmas Quilt It only took me two years to complete four Merry Grinchmas Quilts for my four little grandsons!  I started back in November 2018, naively thinking I could have them completed for that Christmas.  I have no idea what I was thinking!  I was finally able to gift them to them this Christmas 2020!  They all loved their personalized quilts, and am I glad that's off my plate!  Each stitch was done with love, but it will be a long time before I want to work on anything Grinch, so I thought, except, I couldn't help myself, and am now in the process of making Grinch Advent Calendars for them.  Hopefully these will be ready in time for next Christmas!
